Programme
The 4 days of Marimbafest 2019 will include:
(1) The Marimbafest Opening Reception
to relax and meet everyone
FOR FESTIVAL PASS AND COMPETITION ONLY PASS HOLDERS
The first evening before the start of Marimbafest 2019 will have a Reception. This is an opportunity to meet everyone in a casual environment, including your fellow Participants, the Faculty and the Staff team.
(2) The Marimbafest Competition
to showcase your solo performance
FOR FESTIVAL PASS AND COMPETITION ONLY PASS HOLDERS
Marimbafest 2019 will then formally kick off with the Marimbafest Competition! You will get to play a marimba solo in front of a live audience, and your performance will be judged by our Faculty panel Dr Lynn Vartan (USA), Dr Wei-Chen Lin (Taiwan/USA), Kana Omori (Japan), and Robert Oetomo (Australia). You will receive feedback on your performance, and the top 4 performances will win prizes!
(3) 20 Hours of Masterclasses and Workshops
to boost your knowledge and skills
FOR FESTIVAL PASS HOLDERS ONLY (SINGLE ENTRY PASS FOR OBSERVERS)
Over the course of the four days, you will receive over 20 hours of intensive masterclasses and workshops with our Faculty Dr Lynn Vartan,Dr Wei-Chen Lin, Kana Omori, and Robert Oetomo. These workshops will cover many topics, including technique, performance, composition, ensemble skills
and more!
(4) 4 Hours of Rehearsals with the Festival Ensemble
to train your ensemble skills
FOR FESTIVAL PASS HOLDERS ONLY (SINGLE ENTRY PASS FOR OBSERVERS)
As part of our Festival Ensemble, you will be assigned to a small chamber group. Your group will be mentored by either Dr Lynn Vartan, Dr Wei-Chen Lin, Kana Omori and Robert Oetomo. Your group will then rehearse intensively with your mentor to produce a public performance of a set piece!
(5) 2 x Private Lesson with a Faculty member
to learn even more
FOR FESTIVAL PASS HOLDERS ONLY
To further boost your knowledge and skills, each Participant is entitled to two private lessons with a Faculty member of their choice (subject to availabiity). This is a good opportunity to learn directly from our Faculty.
(6) 3 x Public Concert Performances
to inspire and share music
FOR EVERYONE – CONCERTS ARE FREE TO ATTEND
Marimbafest 2019 will be highlighted with three major concert performances from the Faculty, the Competition Finalists and the Festival Ensemble. All concerts are free for everyone to attend and require no bookings.
