Hi. I live in the Austin, TX area, and need to find a private lessons instructor nearby. I am a sophomore in high school in north Austin. I desire instruction in the basic instruments: marimba (keyboards in general), timpani, and snare. To give you and idea of my playing abilities, here are some pieces that I have, or am preparing for various occassions:
- Peter's "Yellow After the Rain"
- Frock's "Seven Solo Dances for Timpani: mvmt 7(?), Rock Stock"
- Bach's "Invention in F" (trans. for marimba)
- Fleck's "Metric Lips" (part: Vibraphone, arr by Steinquist)
- Carter's "Eight Pieces for Four Timpani: mvmt 8, March"
- Gillingham's "Sacrifical Rite" (part: Percussion 4)
- Bernstein's "Profanations" (part: Snare Drum, Triangle)
- Beck's "Sonata for Timpani: mvmt 1"
- Creston's "Concertino for Marimba", mvmt 1
- Husa's "Drum Ceremony" (part: Temple Blocks)
- Gauger's "Gainsborough" (all mvmts, Part: Marimba I, Vibraphone, Triangle)
- Firth's "Encore in Jazz" (part: Vibraphone, Indian Drum)
- Tchaikovsky's "Album for the Young, mvmts 2: 'Hobby Horse' and 3: 'Waltz'" (trans by Stevens)
I have been playing for 5 years, but only seriously for two (where the above repertoire comes from), and would like high quality semi-advanced instruction. Thanks for your help.
