I'm playing "The New Doll" from Album for the Young (the Leigh Howard Stevens transcription), and I need some pointers. In bars 33-41, it is written on the bottom of the page that "the lowest note note may be played one octave higher". However, I was wondering if there is some way to play this as written. I am currently using Innovative soloists (300's), so perhaps there is a mallet with a longer shaft? (There are also other movements such as the Waltz where extremely large intervals are required)
Thanks for your help.

If you refer to Stevens's Method of Movement it describes a
large interval technique in which the inside mallet is swung
underneath the first finger.
