I was wondering if any of you have any experience with the Adams MSPV43 marimba. I will be renting this marimba and am to pick it up over the weekend. I know the specs, but wanted to hear from anyone who has actually played one. Anthing I should be aware of? etc
NO sorry i have no experience with this marimba, but i have heard of it.
Good luck...i hope all works out well for you, just don't become a nervous neddy...it'll kill the performance.
I havent used the 4.3 model, Ive used their 5.0 octave instrument, its a nice instrument.

Be careful in the lower octave. The bars are padouk and much more fragile than Honduras rosewood..more easily broken..

Well, I picked up the marimba over the weekend. I am VERY impressed with many things about this. First, Steve Beck is a great guy and very easy to do business with. He obviously is doing this more for service than money.
Now about the marimba. I am lucky enough to be the first renter of this instrument, and therefore hava buyout option after 12 months. Steve received the instrument less than 2 weeks ago!! The marimba is full of nifty little bits of innovative quality. The frame and resonators are powdercoated, which makes the finish very durable. The frame is height adjustable and quite sturdy. the 2 sets of resonators both fold up, so it is easy for one person to carry.
As for the bars. They have a nice full sound(it's paduk, but still sounds quite nice). The bars are graduated slightly, certainly not like a Malletech! My only complaint is that the lowest 2 notes sound a bit dead. I think it could be a combination of the room and the resonator, not sure.
So far(less than 1/2 hour of use!) I'm quite happy with this . Just wanted to share with you all.
