Hi guys, just wondering if anyone knows of any Afro-Cuban marimba pieces. Most of what I play is Latin music, but mostly montunos and lines adapted from piano parts. Any ideas?

Look on Nancy Zeltsman's "Woodcuts" cd. it has a 3 movement piece called "Tango." It's really cool. I never played it, but it "grooves" very nicely. Have fun. (Look at my url, it has info on Zeltsman and the pieces that she plays.)

Joelysa,
You might want to contact Orlando Cotto, the new percussion instructor at Northern Illinois University. IIRC he's skilled in both marimba and Afro-Cuban music, and he might be able to bridge the gap for you.
I believe you can reach him through the NIU percussion department web site: http://www.vpa.niu.edu/music/current/applied/percussion/index.htm

Hey Joel,
try www.cubanrythms.com
they used to have a section on percussion instruments with a number of great pieces, I think they may have even had a couple of Carlos Moridad's leeser known pieces...check it out anyways.
