I'm only 15 and I just learned how to play four mallets. It comes very easy for me; I learned in about 3 half-hour lessons. I was looking for a marimba that doesn't cost much. I don't care if it's not very good, i just need something to practice on.
thanks for your help.

Musser M32. It's four octaves, so it allows you to play a decent amount of music, and it's cheap, (around $1500). I've had mine for a year and it's a good practice instrument.

Go to this sight for a review I wrote on it. This is also the place I ordered it from.
Hi Scott,
I hope you are able to buy a rosewood or padouk marimba rather than a fibreglass one.. In my opinion there is no comparison in sound, a plastic marimba just doesn't sound or feel like the real thing. But whatever you decide, I could suggest Steve Weiss Music in Philadelphia. This is the lowest priced(usually), best known, percussion mail order company in the US and very honest and reputable.. They carry everything percussion.. 215-659-0100 or info@steveweissmusic.com You might try the Yamaha YM1430C padouk 4 1/3 .....or the Adams MSPVJ40..also Padouk...at Weiss Feel free to mention my name....Sometimes they can seem a little "short" on the phone but don't let that put you off...You could ask for Randy Eyles..He's very friendly..
