I am wondering how many of you if any have performed "The Process of Invention" I am going into my 3rd year as a percussion performance major and really am interested in playing the piece. I do have the music and it is a task to get the cordination and stamina. But I am interested to know what others think of the piece and any tips you could pass along on it.

glad to hear you're taking on such a cool tune. i agree with what pat says below, but realize that's hard to keep on top of. this piece is sooo cool, and Deane is a wizard.
I talked to both Mark Ford and Christopher Deane at PASIC 2000 about the process of invention for tips and they both just kinda said lotsa luck to ya and that there is no trick to learning this piece you just have to do it and keep doing it till it works. Mark Ford even said that it was a rather fat headache for him. It's no doubt worth the effort though. Good times
