Start with the ostinato using both hands (ie 233233) This is critical to ensure you get heard over the orchestra. Zivkovic says "I have seen many marimba concertos, but have heard not so many"
When the melody comes in my sticking goes like this
14 2 3 14 2 3 14 2 3 42 2 14 2 3 42 2 42 14 2 3 2 3 2 3
A G A A A B C A (B C D E)
This involves a very small amount of crossing over between 2 and 3 but works for me fabulously. The second phrase of this theme unfolds pretty much the same way... but
once the melody comes in fifths, you're stuck with the ostinato being in the left hand, although at the tags on end of phrases I do double up the ostinato BCDE with the 2323 again.
