i'm coming up on a solo marimba recital (dec 4), and i need one more piece to make it a good 30-35 min. program. the program is currenty Musser- Etudes Op. 6 No. 8,9 & 10, Abe- Frogs, Rosauro-Choro Bachino, Gipson- Monograph IV, and Deane- Etude for a Quiet Hall. My teacher's resources are limited, so I am looking for suggestions to help me compliment this diverse program I already have at the moment. Thanks for the help!
David Maslanka: My Lady White
Paul Smadbeck: Rhythm Song
David Steinquist: Meditation and Dance
Ross Edwards: Marimba Dances
Also look at Gordon Stout's collection, Nocturnes, or Bart Quartier's new collection, Encore.

Of all the suggestions so far, I would go with R.Edwards "Marimba Dances" after the longest piece you have there "Etude for a quiet Hall". It's a strong piece musically without being too hard to play.
Is the order you have presented the one you will use in the performance? This is important as it effects what kind of pieces people might suggest.
In this particular programme I would be reserved about adding rhythm song as it is demanding from a stamina perspective and rather long. It can be an effective piece, but needs careful programming. Though it is a classic "pop" marimba piece!
Can you involve an accompaniment in your recital?
I'm just thinking allowed.
