do you know if we must play this piece with 4 mallets or with 2 mallets ( for example the begining ) ???

I have heard over 20 interpretations of this piece by some very accomplished marimbists and all have struggled to justify the composition. I think that this work is and example of a very promenant international composer writing music for an instrument he didn't really understand, well enough, at the time. Don't get me wrong, as on paper the piece is not without merit, but your time as a developing marimbist could be better spent.
