I was looking through this PAS "Percussion News" thing, and came across something interesting on the back...This guy Makoto Nakura is playing a concert in NY at the end of Feb, and among the repertoire listed is a "new work for solo marimba by Andrew Thomas." Now, I am excited about this new work -- anyone know anything about it?

(...more specifically, title, and when can I buy it?)

I heard Makoto Nakura play Andy Thomas' new solo marimba work, "Wind", just before Makoto's big Nov. 4th concert in Tokyo. It is a 10+ minute piece. Most of the piece is for four mallets, except for the extended ending which is for 6. Needs a 4 1/2 octave marimba. I don't believe the piece is available now because of the commissioners exclusivity period.

Rumor has it that there are two more installments due based on other natural forces like water and fire. The result will be a huge trilogy for marimba solo. All based on poetry by Howard Kessler.

You should also hear Makoto's new piece called "Transience" by Jason Eckardt.
