I've been a percussionist for 6-7 years now, but just started 4 mallet stuff nearly 6 months ago. I was taught to hold 4 mallets with the musser grip....are there any other grips that are suitable for 4 mallet playing?

look up "grips" on the search section at the top right corner. (by the way, i use stevens grip for marimba and vibes, burton grip for jazz vibes and anything thats not marimba.)

I would personally recommend having a read through LH Stevens "Method of Movement" even if you decide to user other grips. I found that the mechanical principals on this book work well with any other grips.
