I'm looking for some specific pieces that appeal to younger audiences or people who have never heard the marimba before. So far I've had great success with Rain Dance and Marimba Dances. Any suggestions? Thanks for you help. Greg

For people who have never heard a marimba before or a younger audience, i would recommend:

Two Mexican Dances - Stout

Concerto for Marimba - Rosauro

Two Part Inventions - Bach/Stevens

One of the Albums for the Young transcribed by Stevens

Guitar Choros - Marcellino/Stout

For an older and more Mature Audience :

Merlin - Thomas

Velocities - Schwantner

Reflections on the Nature of Water - Druckman

Restless - Rich O'Meara
Any of the Claire Omar Musser Etudes (I like the Whole tone study, C major, B Major, & Ab major, personally)
Any of the Paul Smadbeck Etudes
Anything out of the Zivkovic Funny Mallets books
Water and Fire - Daniel Skoog
Rhythm Song - Paul Smadbeck
Virginia Tate - Paul Smadbeck
Perhaps a few of the Michael Burrit preludes, as well.

Best
CJT
