ahoy all

just a quick question asking for suggestions. I'm looking for some tighter wound mallets for the 2nd movement of marimba spiritual, something like the stout mallets but harder. I need something that lays well in the upper range of the instrument that doesnt sound too ticky, and preferably with as dark of sound possible. I've gone through my whole mallet collection and haven't found what Im looking for yet. Any suggestions?

To help me out a bit before i committ to a post, what have you tried already? What kind of instrument are you playing on (brand)? And are you playing the 4.3 or 5.0 "version"?
