Hi all.

I'm looking for some new music, I've been intrigued in the past by Klatzow's 'Dances of Earth and Fire' and more recently be the recent thread here, but have noticed in SW he's got some other published works ('Inyanga' and 'Song for Stephanie'). I'm currantly getting ready for a few recitals and a festival so don't really have time to work up DoE&F yet, hope to get some comments on these other pieces. I'm into stuff that is simultaneoulsy intellectually and aurally appealing (Bennett is about the only example from the well known rep I can cite, though Klatzow looks like a contender). Also would be curious to hear about 'Figures in a Landscape' as I've been playing with a flautist who's into doing some chamber music shows. Many thanks for any comments.

Hi,
Though I have never played Inyanga or Songs for Stephanie, I know that they are a BIT easier than the Dances of Earth and Fire. Though if you really like DoE&F, I think that the first movement is quite do-able. I have worked on it for about four or five days now, and I have all the notes down, nothing to over the top in the technical sense. The second movement is very difficult, trying to fit these little grance notes in while staying loyal to the meter, as well as alot of runs and stuff. But I will definitely indourse the first movement, as its "do-able".
I have really gotten into Klatzow recently. I think it would be great for someone (like Mr. Moersch, wink-wink), to record a CD of Klatzow's complete percussion works, because he even has a conerto too.
