How important are tunable resonators for the low end?

The question of how important tunable resonators are for the low end will no doubt give rise to different answers from different people. And I think that many of those responses may in fact be quite subjective

it's a decent read even if you don't agree...
If you're looking to purchase a marimba you might call up all the manufacturers of instruments you're interested in and ask them about their resonators?
