I wanted to let everyone here know that Frank Nuyts has just written a new marimba solo called Empty Music. It is available to buy from the Hardscore Editions website: http://www.hardscore.be - click on Hardscore Editions. Also available there are copies of his marimba concerto (Woodnotes), percussion quintet (Schlemozzle), and duo for flute or violin and percussion (Hommage a...). Mr. Nuyts is a really great composer that few people in the United States seem to be aware of right now. Mr. Van Sice recorded the marimba concerto, and it is very well worth checking out. If you are interested in playing some good music that not too many people know about... I'd recommend looking at one of these pieces.

I just received Nuyts' "Empty Music" in the mail yesterday. I got it after your recommendation here. What a great piece! I have not played through it enough to see what its about, but definitely a difficult piece, considering its tempo. And it seems like a LONG piece, so it makes for a great concert piece, though it still has alot of substance.
