Are there any college students on this page? If so where do you attend and what are you working on?

Hi Tim,
I am a college student. I went to the University of Maine for a year. I studied with Dr. Stuart Marrs there, he is a former Gaber student at I.U. I have taken two years off, and in the fall I am proud to say that I will be attending the Peabody Conservatory. I am starting out with Jonathan Haas, and hopefully I will get a year or two with Robert Van Sice. This is actually a good time to thank the people on this forum for helping me prepare Sueyoshi's "Mirage" for my audition. It payed off! Thanks guys!
For stuff I am working on, I am trying to get together an actual repertoire list. As Mr. Van Sice said in an article I once read "we must become keyboard players, not just a percussionist who knows two or three pieces", something like that. So this summer, I have been cleaning up pieces I have played in the past which are Sueyoshi's "Mirage", Tanaka's "Two Movements", Miyoshi's "Torse III". And new pieces I am learning are Druckman's "Reflections on Nature of Water", Klatzow's "Dance of Earth and Fire" (though having second thoughts after seeing the second movement), Naito's "Memory of the Woods". My "guilty pleasure" is Richard Rodney Bennett's "After Syrinx II". Its a guilty pleasure because its one of my most favorite pieces, yet I know I am not at the level where I should be tackling such a piece. Though I have been to muddle through atleast half of the piece. But it will be years until I can confidently say its in my repertoire.
Jeez, I have been posting alot. 🙂
