Many pieces have been commissioned by "New Music Marimba". What is it exactly? Is this the name of the group of marimbists (i.e., Mr. Moersch, Ms. Zeltsman, Mr. Van Sice, etc.) that just come together to commission new works?
So, what is the process? Like do they research (a) composer(s) each year, and gather funds and grants to pay the composer to write a piece?

New Music Marimba is a not-for-profit corporation with the primary purpose of commissioning music for the marimba. William Moersch is founder and Artistic Director of the organization.
NMM functions in various ways such as serving as the recipient of grants for individuals or consortia as in the recent commission of Charles Griffin for his work Visitations (a multiple keyboard work) written for Luanne Warner, Joseph Gramley and William Moersch, or as a funding conduit for a larger group of commissioners as with Alejandro Vinao's Khan Variations, or as primary donor as in the case of Akemi Naito's Memory of the Woods.
