I was wondering if anybody knew what range marimba was required to play My Lady White by David Maslanka. Also, what are your thoughts on the piece and how difficult is it? Thank you.

I am currently working on this piece. The second movement is quite demanding and requires some fat permutation chops. Before you play a note of mvmt. II, work up your 1243 (number from left to right 1-4) permutation to sixteenth notes at at least 1/4 note equals 170 and your 2343 to the same tempo. Keep the right hand very relaxed on the latter in particular. The range shouldn't be a problem as one can perform this piece on a 4 1/3 octave marimba.
