Anyone out there tried the Balter "Performing Artist" series mallets? I bought a set of #52 medium-hard) that are working well for me. I'm wondering if anyone has played the #54s (soft). also curious about the Balter "Shadow" series. Any thoughts?

i dont like the shadow mallets. the shaft aint my thing. what is that stuff? black birch or whatever? anyway, i dont like it. plus, they are chord wound, no? chord on marimba (usually) sounds too contact-y.
