The "The Drummer: Man" by Gordon Peters and "Percussion Instruments and their History" By James Blades. Also try "Information on the Marimba" David Vela and "The Marimbas of Guatemala" by Vida Chenoweth. If you are a member of the PAS, you can search thier archieves of past articles on their web site.
