I am in search of a used inexpensive 4 1/3 Marimba. I live in NYC and I can't find anything here. I would love to find a rent to own program or even a so-so instrument to practice on. I want to prepare for grad school but I have NO access to any instruments. A studio to practice in (hourly charge) would also be helpful. Any suggestions?
I've been searching for a marimba too, although I am entering college now, and my dorm is only about a hundred yards fron the beautiful adams 5.0 in the music building. Someone was telling me that Malletech makes a practice marimba for about a grand. It is 5 octaves, and has an inexpensive frame with no resonators, and the bars are lower quality rosewood. It probably doesnt sound too good, but to be able to practice most of the new repitoire it would be important to have 5 octaves. Does anybody know anything about this malletech practice instrument? Also, check E-bay. Some people will put rosewood 4.3's on with a very low starting price, but they usually wind up going for ridiculously high. I hope this has helped some...
