Can anyone discuss the proper technique in marimba 4-mallet dampening? For example, let's say the music calls for a dotted quarter note/chord followed by an eight note (staccatto) chord, then followed by rests to complete the measure in 4/4 time. Tempo around 110. A song, for example, would be the pop tune "On Broadway" where you have long notes/chords (dotted quarter) then a short note/chord (eighth) at the intro. How do you stop the resonation on the short notes? Any advice please.
