Ok, I have a really big audition for an All-State band coming up. I am trying out with the piece "Frogs" by Keiko Abes. I am going to go out and purchase two pairs of mallets for this song, but I was wondering what kind I should go with. I want a pair of mallets that wont break easily, because I have bad luck with mallet breaking. I also want a pair that when I play loud, it has a very harsh and almost annoying aspect to the tone, and when I play the legato portions of the piece, I want a nice soft, harmonious sound. Is this kind of mallet impossible to find? Any suggestions?
Hello,
Try malletech's concerto series, they are multi tones. When I played frogs I used the CN 26. I hope this helps.
