i am performing marimba spiritual in my recital next semester..
any suggestion on the mallets?..for the fast passage...
i've tried musser good vibes, red ones...
malletech dave samuels DS18..
any more suggestions on very hard mallets tht's rattan handle and long..coz the long mallets i found are all in wood, i dont reli like tht
please help..tht would be great

Hi there, I use 3 terry gibbs m 32 with the cord taken off and two pieces of dr. scholl's mole skin on them. for the low mallet i use a good vibe m-229 with the yellow chord left on it. it is still articulate but just a little warmer (and safer for the low notes) then the gibbs. all are on rattan, i prefer it. good luck. greg

PS - for the low section of the 2nd part i switch to innovative moersch 502's with a 501 in the bass (also all on rattan); it's a good sound for that section, you definately do not need the articulation of the other three sections, and these don't have a chance of damaging the low octave of the marimba. glad to hear someone is using rattan, it makes the inst. sound so much better. greg
