Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could suggest mallets i might use for the stevens arrangement of Sonata in A Minor. I'll be playing it on a Marimba One 5 octive. Also, can anyone suggest some good excersices to get my one-handed rolls up to par.

thanks
Al

There is no Bach Sonata in a minor. Leigh made that transcription when marimbas only went down to A. If you insist on playing the violin sonatas down an octave (another discussion entirely), then make your own transcription and at least play it in the right key. Keys sound different. There is a reason that Bach chose g rather than a to begin with.

if you want to build up your single hand roll chops, play scales in 5th and octave rolls up and down the scale, varying the roll speed..works great!
