Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could suggest mallets I might use for Tanaka's, "Two Movements for Marimba." I'll be performing it on a Marimba One 5 oct.
Also, i was wondering if anyone know anything about VMAX mallets.

Thanks-
Al

I would recommend using Malletech Stevens LS15H, harder for the fast stuff, soft for the chorale part.

Or use Innovative Mark Ford IP803 probably the best new solo mallet around

The last time I heard it, Stevens was used for the first movement and Fords for the second movement

I am using Innovative ......mmmm....504. I have been using Canaries CN22 for practice because the really loud parts in the second movement tend to bend shafts when repeated alot 🙂 Have you been taking the secong movement up to tempo? Great endurance piece eh? Let me know how things turn out for you!
