Hi,
I am going to be forming and conducting a percussion ensemble in my son's middle school. These will be 7th graders (in the fall) who have never had an previous experience in playing in a percussion ensemble. I'm not even sure how well they can read music! Also, being a middle school, I will not have any exotic instrumentation available to me... they have 2 timps, xylophone, glock, a bunch of drums, cymbals, triangle, etc.
I would like to get some recommendations for pieces that they may be able to play. Easy stuff just so I can get them functioning as an ensemble first.....
Thanks,
Marc
would you want a piece with normal percussion instruments, or do you want a piece with "ab-normal" percussion instruments (paper bags, garbage cans, break drums, ect.) pieces with instruments like garbage cans or things like that are fun, and they are pretty basic too.
