hi all,

Just all these talks of grips made me wonder what the difference
between Stout's grip and Stevens' grip?
Any ides would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Paul

I'm not really sure, I haven't seen stout in action or really even seen pics of him playing so I have no idea. But my guess would be that he uses the musser grip, the unmodified grip that stevens uses.

On a side note..after reading some of the Burton vs. Stevens debates before it seems like a lot of people think that stevens/musser grip has absolutely no power at all. I agree to a tiny extent, however, I can play louder and faster than a lot of others I know that uses burton on marimba (I use stevens). I think that Stevens is a much more elegant grip with a lot more options open to playing the marimba than burton does.

Just the take of a marimba junky
Scott
