Gergely Nagy is a Stuttgart-based marimbist, percussion educator, and ensemble director. The City of Stuttgart lists him as head of the percussion department at the Stuttgart Music School. He teaches in the Stadtmitte and Hedelfingen districts and directs the school’s large percussion ensemble.
The percussion department encompasses drum set, orchestral and hand percussion, and mallet instruments including marimba, xylophone, vibraphone, and glockenspiel. Nagy’s ensemble performs repertoire for the full range of percussion instruments and appears regularly at City of Stuttgart events. His educational work also includes percussion workshops and projects such as the 2024 Tablet & Stick Percussion Showdown.
As a marimba soloist, Nagy performed Keiko Abe’s Prism Rhapsody for Two Marimbas and Orchestra with Abe and the Miskolc Symphony Orchestra in March 2007, conducted by László Kovács. He later supported the Stuttgart Music School’s 2019 tour of Japan by organizing instruments in Tokyo.
