Planet Marimba designs and builds custom marimbas. Many of these instruments have extended the normal range of standard marimbas. Examples include the Monolith 3.3 octave contra-bass that reaches a whole ocyave and third below a standard 5.0 octave. This year's PASIC featured a 6.3 octave that stretched an octave above and a third below a standard 5.0 octave.
