I have to agree..Kelon is the most rancid substance known to man..ick ick ick! The only advantage I could see in it is that Musser makes a 4 1/2 and 5 marimba using the crap..

Accoustalon is great, but nothing like Rosewood..the bars are harder so you have to be kinda picky with mallets on them. But I personally really like the sound of the Accoustalon, and would probably purchase one, if they came in extended range (hint to Yamaha..)..anyhoo..You also might want to try persuading your music teacher to look at the Adams synthetic, its the almost exact same thing as Accoustalon, but easier to travel and move around with.
