Thanks, Marc :) Luckily, Samantha has proven to be quite gentle with the mallets. I keep my good ones up and out of reach, but I gave her a few older, cheaper ones that I don't really use. That keeps her happy! She loves to play it, and they keys are Kelon, so it works out ok. I think she remembers the sound from when I was pregnant--during the last couple months of the pregnancy, I was preparing for juries and a recital with Gordon Stout--I was playing 4-6 hours a day. Marimba music always soothed her when she was an infant, and I think that was why.
Anyway...
