Encore mallets are almost indestructable (the Yarn wound models at least, the Zeltsmans are bit less durable because they have softer yarn)
Between the Yarn Wound and Zeltsman series I would recommend the Zeltsman over the yarns. They have just a bit nice weight and feel to them, their sound is also much darker and warmer than the yarn wound series. the purple, dark red, brown, green and blue malles are especially nice! So go for it, they rule hard!
