My apologies for not answering your question..I just saw it...You know, rather than sending the bar to me and paying $$, I would suggest you just try a little furniture touch up stain..find something the same color, apply it lightly, rub it in with a cloth..see if that works. The only problem is the stain may not "stick" through the clear finish on top of the bars.. If I stripped and refinished the entire bar, I could come close to the original color..maybe even get it perfect.. There are so many different stains used on different instruments, it's difficult to match each one perfectly.
When I refinish marimbas and xylos for people, I completely strip the old finish, hand steel wool each bar, and apply 10-12 extremely thin coats of specially formulated exterior CLEAR wood lacquer.. I just like the rosewood grain. But I can also, tint bars, as well....
