A great way to keep the tension on your tabourine from going slack is to keep a sack of silica gel in your tambourine bag. Silica gel is the stuff that you get in camera bags that says "DO NOT EAT" It soaks up the moisture really well, and your can get large bags of it pretty cheap at most camera stores, or just collect the bags after buying various things that have the stuff... Works pretty well, unless you happen to spill a glass of water on your tamb. bag.
