Enjoyed reading Wilfred's note on this mattter -- although I can see both sides of the story I must tell you that, in my personal opinion and experience, a full set of tunable resonators, like on my 5 octave malletech, can make a REAL difference in a recording, for instance. For general touring, I give it a quick tune, but sometimes don't touch it at all, if there is no time, but at least one has the option. My record label's (Zig ZAg Territoires in PAris) sound engineer, Frank Jaffres, records with up to 10 mics sometimes and makes a very intimate, yet powerful, sound. With this type of detail (also 24 bit recording with shooeps and neumman mics), it helps immensely to tune the resonators, to have a consistent sound throughout the sessions.

I also have an adams 5 octv and I must tell you that the I rarely used the tuning system on the lower notes -- it isn't effective at all, so, I can only emphatise with ROn Samuels, removing the tuning system on Marimba One's altogether (if i understood correctly).
