Thanks for your response. I looked over it some more, and even consulted with a friend of mine who is an ethnomusicologist. The genius thing was that after seeing the music, he started talking about the Zulu's of South Africa and their use of polyrhythms. I told him that it was actually composed by a South African composer. Either Mr. Klatzow is very good at conveying this, or it was an amzing coincidence. Anyways, I have been doing a diservice to myself by thinking of theme in 16th quintuplets instead of 8ths. Looking at it in 8ths is much easier, as you suggested. Measure 2 for example, its just "rest-two-&-3-4-&-5". For measure 18 (and other measures with similar rhythms) is the African plyrhythm thing my friend was talking about. So this is liek saying that its "five or two over three" or "5:2:3" or something like that. So the first groupings should end by the "and" of beat two, and then I simply repeat it for the second half of the phrase. This rhythmic device woul dbe much easier to do if the measure was written in 2/4 time instead of 3/4, or if there was a beat's rest in there. But the fact that its fitting this into two beats, completely chenges things. Amazing piece, I'm loving it! Please any more suggestions or objections please let me know. Thanks! ~Behzad
