I wonder why the range did shrink?. I'm sure Creston should have known about the larger marimbas being around Chenoweth and all. Perhaps financial issues? Touring of moving and loading a larger instrument? Very interesting. I'm still very curious as to why other composers didn't begin writing for the larger marimbas. It seems like the majority of the 5 octave literature is selective to everything post-1985ish. Also, do you have any information on Percy Graingers exposer to the sounds of the mallet instruments. What presuaded him to write so extensivley for mallet instruments? Thanks for all your help, Greg
