You can put on a great recital with just one instrument, but chamber music always adds a little spice. Think about other instruments. I have been to recitals that were all piano, or all string, and the fact that it is one sonority doesn't matter if the playing and the rep are great.
I've found that who your playing for should decide whether or not you add percussion music to a marimba recital. If it's mostly other percussionists, then a multi piece or shorter snare solo will be a great addition. However, there are a lot of non-percussionists who don't enjoy listening to non-harmonic instruments.
It's not a perfect science. As long as you play your best, people will dig what you do.
