another book you might want to try is the Leigh Howard Stevens classic book Method of Movement (published by Keyboard Percussion Publications), this is the best book (in my and many others) opinions. It has lots of pictures of grip and clear explanation..and on top of that 590 good exercises. I would go for this book. It is also more 4-mallet oriented than the Goldenberg, which is more 2-mallet oriented, though the Bach violin concerto is really nice and fun as well. Some other solos you might want to get are Sea Refractions and Yellow after the Rain, both written and publiushed by Mitchell Peters, and also Rain Dance by Alice Gomez, published by Southern Music. All three solos are good for rolls, intervals, and independence, they're the best begginning solos, that still have some substance.
Good luck Scott
