I agree with James, wood is infinitely superior to synthetic (acoustalon being Yamaha's brand name for synthetic bars, kelon is Musser's). I would rank them as follows: rosewood, rosewood, rosewood, paduak, paduak, acoustalon, kelon. :-) As far as paduak now vs. rosewood later, that depends on many factors. What would you have to practice on in the meantime? What level are you and what are you working on? Another option is to buy the paduak now, then save until you can afford to sell the paduak and buy the rosewood. Good luck.
