Thanks,
well the player is me and personally I don't like rattan (that's what the samuels are right?) as much just b/c of the flex, but I'll give it a try. The instrument is an Yamaha Acoustalon (fairly old as well) if that tells you anything. The conductor is the son of the old director at University of North Texas (he recently passed away I think his name was Maurice McAdow) Regardless, our director want's less attack and more body of sound. Though I heard it should be played as britley as possible, b/c of the emotional tension. The main hall we play it at is the one at North Texas. I've never performed there so I'm not quite sure what it's like. But we have many recording we're trying to get for Honor band auditions.
Thanks for the suggestion, I know it's not easy to reccomend mallets when there's so much that effects it. I just thought i'd ask her to see if anyone had some pearls of wisdom.
