Mike,

I would be happy to tune a keyboard with the minor third....not a problem.
I've heard other Deagan instruments of around that vintage which are tuned in that manner. I just recently worked on a Deagan #335 (Mercury) 1940, which was tuned with minor thirds. It is definitely a different sound color.

By the way, my instruments are usually tuned A=442 for orchestra players (especially xylos) to help them cut through the ensemble. I'll do any tuning reference, and A=440 is pretty much the norm for individuals.
