why you need to be defensive is questionable, I simply shared my approach which was effective and well thoughout...
Another very effective method of practising fast two mallet 16th note passages, especially in the very chordal nature of Xylophone Ragtime music, is to isolate the "carriage" motion of the arms which places the hands in the correct positions over the keyboard...
By this I mean one can break down a run of 16ths which are either scales or arpeggios and play the left and right handed notes on top of each other in two note chords where ever possible. This removes "an aspect" of the alternating piston stroke and allows the eye to focus on the "carriage" movement.
In the same line of thinking it can also be very effective to play repeated block chords through a "rolled" 4 mallet passage, instead of the alternating hands patterns of traditional 4-mallet roll...
