I don't "need" to listen to Mr. Moersch to decide if Merlin is a good piece or not. I do agree with you that we should make decisions with our own ears. BUT, you should not write an unneccessary post saying something sucks. The person was simply asking for recordings of the piece, yet you felt you had to tell them that they shouldn't wast their time. Well, what if it IS his "cup of tea"? That would be going against what you just said. Whatever, I don't want to be playing moderator here. But, if you would PLEASE enlighten us. What pieces ARE good? What do you think are pieces we should be looking at? Here is a few of mine (off the top of my head): Bennett "After Syrinx II", Thomas "Merlin", Vinao "Khan Variations", Klatzow "Dance of Earth and Fire", Miyoshi "Torse III", Sueyoshi "Mirage", I can keep going if you want me to. And if for any reason you too feel that pieces like the Bennett and the Klatzow are "worthy", then it is quite hard for me to imagine that you don't like Merlin. So please tell us what is worthy, and don't say Bach transcriptions and Yellow After the Rain! :) (really though, on a side note, I personally do not like marimba players who take up recital time by playing Bach transcriptions. I think it slows down the marimba repertoire's evolution. But that is another discussion altogether.) ~Behzad
