I sometimes have the same problem with my posts. I intend to type one thing and another just happens. Sometimes my marimba does the same thing. I'll be aiming for a C#, and that darned D# just jumps up and gets in my way! I think I need to send my bars to Bill to get this problem fixed :-).
OK, I'll bite on the 6-mallet question. In my limited experience with trying 6-mallet, I indeed found the grip too limiting in many ways. Perhaps I just didn't give it enough time. Yes, there are great chordal possibilities, but IMHO it started to feel too much like a gimick. Maybe I'll just duct tape a mallet to each finger and write a 10-mallet piece!
