Thanks for the compliments, fellows.

Sony Classical purchased "The Modern Marimba" from Newport Classic, along with many other recordings including Steven Schick's "Born to Be Wild." They are all somewhere in the Sony vaults and Sony refuses to discuss the matter further.

Some have suggested this was a corporate ploy to clear the market for Sony artists, but I find that a bit extreme. The less cynical theory is that the entire Newport purchase was a corporate mistake and now no one wants anything to do with it. Either way, we're screwed. My original contract with Newport had a clause to return the rights to me if the recording went out-of-print, but Sony deleted that clause in their contract(!).
