For the purposes of this discussion, there is a huge difference in comparing student model instruments, where things are basically the same, and high end 5.0 instruments, where significant differences are still personal preferences between professionals.

Having personally owned many of these instruments and certainly played the rest, I far prefer the Adams to the Malletech. However, every set of bars is unique and I have played singularly fine examples of Yamaha and Marimba One, too.

Pedro is correct; all low register notes should be played slightly off-center for the best balance of fundamental to harmonics.
